Touch Me

Apple had recently released the multi-touch iPhone, becoming a new player in the telecommunications industry, and revolutionizing the way a user interface ought to be presented to the end-user; simple, yet compelling and engaging experience that creates a fan base none have ever witness with any other brands.

Apple is known to be pioneers when it comes to user interfaces and have, time after time, proven that they are not a follower of trends but a leader of interaction as well as industrial design.

The iPhone has the telecommunications shaken, but not stirred. The absent of 3G integration has been its Achilles’ heal and have been taken a lot of heat from the press. How can today’s mobile device be manufactured without this technology, especially from the gurus of Apple? Ah yes, they are a rookie in this sector. In comparision to 2G, 3G allows a faster internet connection, a no-brainer for a mobile device. Of course there is WLAN, but that is not always reliable when you’re not in the vicinity of a hotspot.

I have been playing with my iPod Touch 16gb for some time now and it has the same look-and-feel as the iPhone. In my honest opinion, I really like the device; it starts up quickly, fast response to finger touch, great user experience and overall, a great product. But, yes, there is a but; I always prefer my classic iPod 80gb. Why? Because I have the luxury of a large capacity device that stores all of my music, videos and images. iPod Touch 16gb does not go so far; synchronize few videos and your memory is hijacked. Hopefully, in the near future, the iPod Touch will include a larger memory capacity.
